Business Wire, Nov 23, 2009

LOS ANGELES — ProSightMD, Inc., a single-source physicians administrative support
supplier and Certified Allscripts Electronic Health Records (EHR)
provider, announces a new Allscripts Guarantee program that guarantees
that Allscripts EHR solutions will meet all Meaningful Use certification
criteria. To back the guarantee Allscripts has earmarked $72 million in
development dollars to insure their programs meet the rigorous CCHIT
requirements which may be even more robust than the Meaningful Use
criteria.

This guarantee means physicians can move ahead with Allscripts
Electronic Health Records programs with confidence, said Cheryl Taylor,

with EHR because of the uncertainties of future regulations and
requirements, but Allscripts has removed that obstacle with this new,
and exclusive, guarantee.

The Allscripts Guarantee also enables physicians the opportunity to
contract for EHR programs and take advantage of two tax deductions
available only in 2009. Under IRS
Section 179, equipment purchases may be deducted from taxable income if
installed by 12/31/2009. Under a separate regulation, a taxpayer is
allowed to claim a special first year depreciation allowance.

practice management, human resources, IT, grant writing and marketing.
Starting with a practice assessment ProSightMD, Inc. develops
individualized programs to maximize revenue cycle management and
effectively execute practice administration. Human resources support

Bloggers need better disclosure, FTC says

The Federal Trade Commission on Monday took steps to make product information and online reviews more accurate for consumers, regulating blogging for the first time and mandating that testimonials reflect typical results.

The FTC will require that writers on the Web clearly disclose any freebies or payments they get from companies for reviewing their products. The commission also said advertisers featuring testimonials that claim dramatic results cannot hide behind disclaimers that the results aren’t typical.

Cakes with extra Jambo as Andy serves up charity treats

0 Comments | Evening News (Edinburgh, Scotland), Nov 18, 2009

Byline: VICTORIA RAIMES

THEY are the staple diet of every football fan – but you don’t expect them to be served up by one of your idols. Hearts winger Andy Driver stunned customers at an Edinburgh bakery when he turned up to spend the afternoon serving pies and pasties. The 22-year-old was at Greggs in Morningside yesterday to help raise money for Children in Need.

Most customers had no idea Driver would be behind the counter during the lunchtime rush, as a handwritten poster advertising his special appearance had only been in the shop window since Monday.

Manager Carole Muddiman, who got into the spirit of the day by donning a Hearts strip and jester’s hat, said the shop made record sales of its special Pudsey treats.

She said: “We’ve sold a lot more than usual, which is probably down to Andy’s customer skills. My partner works at Hearts so I thought I’d pull in a favour for Children in Need.”

Special Pudsey Bear gingerbread men and cupcakes were on offer in addition to the usual fare.

Jambo Jim Burnett, who popped into the shop with his five-year-old grandson Nicholas, was among those to be served by the special bakery apprentice.

He said: ” I had no idea he’d be down here today. It’s a nice surprise to see him doing his bit for charity.”

Nicholas shared a Pudsey cupcake with the winger. For each pack of four cupcakes sold for GBP 2.40, 36p of the proceeds go to charity.

Each gingerbread man sold, at a cost of 65p, will see 15p enter the Children in Need kitty

ASBO YOB’S TAKEAWAY STAYAWAY

0 Comments | Daily Mirror, The; London (UK), Nov 21, 2009 | by RICHARD SMITH

A YOB who threatened KFC staff with an antique musket and spat in the face of a female worker has been barred from EVERY takeaway shop in Britain.

Sonny Parsons, 20, has waged a one-man campaign of abuse and intimidation against takeaways and residents in his hometown.

Police say he has caused “chaos” and has numerous convictions for assault, affray and public disorder against staff.

But under the Asbo, Parsons is not allowed to enter any fast- food outlet including chip shops, kebab houses, KFC or McDonald’s from 8pm to 4am.

Lawyer Dylan Sadler told city magistrates that people in the St Budeaux area of Plymouth, where he has been banned from the high street, needed protection.

He said: “He is unpredictable, especially under the influence of drugs and alcohol. If not violent, he is extremely intimidating. He is upsetting people, businesses and undermining the whole area where he operates.”

Parsons was jailed for affray in June after going in the KFC in St Budeaux wearing a mask and brandishing a replica 19th-century musket.

He was also jailed in February for seven months for spitting in the face of a woman who worked there

Touchscreen-Based Interactive Unit Exercises 6 Cognitive Domains Per Session

NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ — Dakim, Inc., today announced a new touchscreen-based alternative for stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) rehabilitation that provides a rigorous workout in an entertaining interactive format. DakimA’ BrainFitness(TM), already the #1 brain training system in senior living communities, transforms standardized neurological tests into thousands of game-like activities with colorful graphics, music, film clips and friendly voiceovers, exercising six cognitive domains per session while also self-adjusting to users’ abilities in real time.

Originally developed to help maintain brain health and combat dementia symptoms in the elderly, the Dakim brain training platform is currently used by more than 300 senior living communities to provide residents with daily cognitive stimulation. The new expansion into the rehabilitation market was spurred by therapist interest as well as use of the system at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to assist soldiers with TBI in regaining cognitive function.

“The feedback we’re getting from speech pathologists in particular is that Dakim BrainFitness is more enjoyable for patients than conventional workbooks and exercises. It provides a thorough cognitive workout with the appearance and humor of a TV game show, customizes the ’show’ for each user based on his or her responses, and adds variety to the therapy experience,” said Dakim CEO Dan Michel. “All of these factors help produce results by keeping users engaged.”

Patients with both mild and severe deficits also benefit from Dakim’s use of practical, real-life situations in system activities that can help simplify the transition back to home and the community. Clinicians benefit from receiving novel therapy material individualized for each patient on a daily basis, helping to reduce preparation time and increase productivity as well as making each therapy session engaging and challenging.
