Who We Are

The Arab American Cultural Center of Washtenaw County is a non-profit organization.  The foundation of the Arab American Cultural Center (AACC) has been encouraged by the absence of effective multidirectional cultural activities of the Arab American Community.  AACC is helping the mature Arab immigrant community understand and connect to their heritage and rich culture.  This will help create citizens who establish a positive sense of their own identity and who not only understand and respect their culture as well as other cultures, but also appreciate the beauty of diversity in America.  The center is open and available to all that have a desire to deepen their cultural awareness and understanding in order to create an atmosphere of friendship, harmony, unity and dispel stereotypes.

AACC provides many community services, including the following:

  • Engaging Arab youth in productive activities
  • Exposing Arab youth to their rich culture and heritage.
  • Offering summer schooling to assist those students who had trouble with certain aspects of the curriculum during the school year.
  • Acquainting the larger community with the Arab culture and history.
  • Assisting newly-arrived immigrants.
  • Furnishing families with educational opportunities, counseling services, and a support network.
  • Providing a center for Arab community events.
  • Establish ties with other humanitarian agencies in Michigan.
